Heron Data, an AI platform that automates document-heavy workflows for fintechs, has expanded into the SMB credit broker market with Heron Broker Suite, a product designed to automate a broker's deal flow from application intake to CRM. The New York company announced the launch in January 2026.
The problem it targets
Heron describes the typical broker day as manual and repetitive. Its estimates: 5 to 20 minutes per application on bank statement scrubbing and light underwriting, 10 to 15 minutes to match each deal to lenders, and 3 to 5 minutes per funder portal across 50-plus submissions a day, plus hundreds of decision emails in which approvals sit alongside declines, spam and stipulations. It says many brokerages spend $10,000 to $20,000 a month on offshore or data entry teams to keep up.
How the suite works
Heron breaks the workflow into four steps:
- Scrub bank statements: extract revenue, positions, NSFs and fraud signals.
- Match lenders: route each deal to funders based on broker-defined criteria.
- Fill funder portals: submit by portal, email or API, whichever a funder requires.
- Process offers: read decision emails and sync approvals, declines and pending status to the CRM.
The suite integrates with systems including Salesforce, CloudSquare and LendSaaS. Heron says every product keeps humans in control.
Early results
Heron says brokers are seeing up to 80% lower processing costs and 2x to 3x volume capacity with the same team. Two customers are in production:
- Big Think Capital, a New York brokerage that receives over 5,000 decision emails daily, reduced the time between an offer and a rep's response by 98%, from more than 30 minutes to less than a minute.
- TFS Financial automated more than 4,000 monthly decisions, which Heron says removed the equivalent of two full-time employees of manual data entry.
TFS Financial's Sydney Stewart, manager of its broker desk, said the change lets her team focus on getting the right applications to the right lenders and getting approvals back faster.
The first broker to get the best approval is the one that's going to win the deal.
Why Heron is moving into brokerage
Heron says it processes more than 500,000 files per week for more than 150 customers, including FDIC-insured banks and insurers, and has so far served funders and fintechs. CEO Johannes Jaeckle said brokers built their businesses to help small businesses get funded, not to fill out portals and manage inboxes. The company raised $16.5 million in Series A funding in 2025, led by Insight Partners with participation from Y Combinator. More at herondata.io.
