Kalamata Capital Group says it is still funding in Texas through one of its affiliated entities, even as a new state law reshapes the market there. The company, which upsized its 2024 securitization by 25%, with notes expandable up to $500 million, offers a range of funding products to small businesses across the U.S.
Texas and partner communication
The Texas law that recently took effect has pushed Kalamata and similar companies to tell partners about any adjustments that apply to them. The company confirmed that its Texas funding is continuing via the affiliate.
Kalamata Cash
The bigger focus right now is Kalamata Cash, the company's proprietary software. Co-president Brandon Laks said the company has gone live with the full system, including syndicator profiles and outside access. He said the previous licensed software was good, but building in-house lets Kalamata map out its own roadmap.
Kalamata is 100% broker-driven and says it can tailor the process to each relationship. Brokers can see live calculators, Laks said, and when they submit a deal and an offer goes out, they get a live view of outstanding steps and can adjust sliders to choose offers. More integrations and additions are planned.

Capital backing
Guggenheim Securities served as sole structuring advisor and sole initial purchaser of the notes in the securitization. At the time, Laks said the additional capital would let Kalamata keep supporting small businesses and invest more in proprietary technology.
