LendingTree CEO Scott Peyree says AI could fix a common complaint about lead generation: too many calls from too many companies. He laid out the idea on the Q2 earnings call.
The proposal
Today, when LendingTree develops a lead, it can be sent to five different brokers who each call the consumer. Peyree described a different flow. An AI agent, by voice, text or email, would first talk with the consumer to gather more detail.
The conversation would focus on which factors matter most to the consumer. LendingTree would then direct the lead to one or two companies best suited to it, rather than five.
Why it matters
Peyree called that a dramatically better consumer experience and a useful consumer-facing use of AI. For brokers and lenders that buy leads, the approach implies fewer but better-qualified referrals.
