- 1Lightspeed's capital revenue grew 73% year over year; MCAs outstanding rose 12%.
- 2Payback period fell to 7 months, a 13% improvement.
- 3The CFO guided to 35%-plus growth in fiscal 2027.
On the company's recent earnings call, CFO Asha Bakshani said Lightspeed's capital revenue rose 73% from a year earlier, while the balance of merchant cash advances outstanding rose a more modest 12%.
Faster payback drives the gap
Bakshani attributed the difference to a payback period that declined to seven months, a 13% improvement over the prior year.
Growth outlook
RBC Capital Markets analyst Daniel Perlin asked whether that growth could keep accelerating. Bakshani said the company is still being careful and told investors to expect growth of 35% or more going forward, specifically in fiscal 2027.
The priority, she said, is keeping default rates in the low single digits. She said Lightspeed has accelerated returns on Lightspeed Capital and reduced the months it takes to be repaid, resulting in very low defaults, which she described as the lowest she has seen in the industry. The goal, she added, is to grow the business prudently.
Volume
Lightspeed funded about $350 million in MCAs from March 31, 2025, through March 31, 2026.
