Credit trends

BHG's trending 30-day commercial past-due rate has hovered around 4% since the same point last year. Past-due rates on its consumer loans have declined consistently since summer 2023.

On Pinnacle's Q2 earnings call, CFO Harold Carpenter said production and credit growth have both gone well this year. He described credit as the bigger surprise of the year, adding that it appears to have pivoted and that he hopes the trend continues.

What BHG does

BHG's main business is providing commercial loans, with a full range of services, to healthcare providers and similar skilled professionals who borrow for business needs. It also makes consumer loans for various purposes.

The combination of higher originations and stable-to-improving delinquency is the main takeaway from the quarter. Commercial delinquency has held flat near 4% rather than rising, and consumer past-dues have been falling for more than two years.
