- 1Seaport Research analyst Jeff Cantwell asked Dorsey the question at Block's Investor Day.
- 2Dorsey said Bitcoin is an open protocol run by a community, so the answer does not matter.
- 3He said Satoshi could prove their identity if it were important to them.
Block's Jack Dorsey was asked directly whether he is Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin, during the company's Investor Day on November 19, 2025. He did not confirm or deny it.
The question came from Jeff Cantwell, a senior equity analyst at Seaport Research Partners, who introduced it as probably the most important question Dorsey would get from the sell side. It likely followed an internet theory that Dorsey is Satoshi, and it may also reflect Block's heavy focus on Bitcoin.
What Dorsey said
Dorsey, who holds the title Block Head, said the best part of Bitcoin is that the question no longer matters. In his telling, Bitcoin is an open protocol that a community has taken over because it wants an alternative to an option. If identity mattered to Satoshi, he added, there is a straightforward way to prove it, and Block will wait for that day.
The full exchange is in Block's Investor Day transcript. The speculation behind the question was covered in an earlier opinion piece.
Satoshi Nakamoto's identity remains unconfirmed.
